In July 2020 this year, I decided to participate in the First International Image meeting organized by RINC, Mexico, Verne and the right to imagine! During childhood, I was familiar with books of Jules Verne and this was a very good opportunity to get in shape and enrich my knowledge. I started by reading articles and extracts from his books. A few YouTube videos have also helped in the process. So one afternoon, I began illustrating a portrait of the author in my Smartphone while listening to some of his remarkable quotes in the background.
I was very sure that when it comes to Jules Verne, most people are going to illustrate submarines, octopus, parachute and so on. I decided to design an info graphic with the messages the author wanted to give us through his books.
Mostly info-graphics are composed of diagrams and few text so I tried to make a unique approach this time. The info graphic composed of Jules Verne’s popular quotes from his writings. The center of the info graphic has a large vector portrait of him. The bottom shows a few noteworthy book titles in chronological order.
We have a lot to learn from this genius, ‘Father of Science Fiction’, as he is appropriately called. In his books, he has often given us life lessons invoking an urge to travel as much as one can during youth. His books also teach us about practical life and how necessity can lead to inventions and solutions to practical problems. I wanted people to know more about the messages Jules Verne tried to convey through his books.
This is why I have used a color scheme that is soothing to the eyes and makes the words or sentences pop so that it is readable by anyone. I call it Typographical info graphic with Quotes by Jules Verne. I have drawn the vector in my smartphone while listening to some of his remarkable quotes and sayings. I have used mostly different types of sans serif fonts for creation of this artwork.
